For anyone publishing opinions on the internet – this page is a NECESSITY.

A disclaimer is a statement (normally found on emails or websites or airline tickets etc etc) that basically holds you harmless from prosecution. It is a statement where you say “I am not responsible for what people do with my advice and wisdom”.
A disclaimer can however not protect you against actual slanderous or defamatory content. The most a disclaimer can accomplish is to reduce the responsibility of the company or individual.
Is it really necessary to have a disclaimer on a blog? As much practice as you put into responsible blogging, situations could arise where your ingenuousness get you into trouble. After all, doesn’t a series of posts and responses start to look like advice which may be relied upon – to the advantage or disadvantage of the commenter / reader?
So, without further ado, here follows our DISCLAIMER:

I think this is a good idea. Good job. Although, I don’t think it’s necessary for me to put this kind of disclaimer on my blog, as the content is not of a professional nature…do you? I do think it might be good if I add something to protect my intellectual property, as I use all of my own photo’s. How should I word it?
